So two glorious days after Bamboozle, I had the privilege of going to the Finch comeback show at the Roxy on April 7. The venue was small but cozy and packed full of all different types of Finch fans. It was a mixture of tweeny girls, mohawked men and the random Atticus loving rock child. After a long day of work and running around, a show sounded like the last place I wanted to be, especially a rock show...but soon turned out to be a surprise. We walked in as The Secret Handshake was wrapping up. Quite a pop sounding band, but I had to laugh and appreciate their rendition to Skee Lo's renowned "I Wish". They put it on the Punk Goes Crunk cd out now!
Waiting for Finch was the worst part of the night. Every time a mic was tested the anxiety in the room grew and grew. Finally Finch approached the stage and immediately started shaking the building. While many songs on the set were old, they did play a few new ones that sound fairly addictive. But the best part of the evening was when they played "Insomniatic Meat" which is off their second album. The pure joy of completely losing myself to a song that the rest of the crowd didn't recognize was a real thrill for me. Most of the youngsters there only knew the original 90s pop versions to their first album while their second album holds so much more power, hard rock and interesting almost Hunter Thompsonesque lyrics.
All in all the concert was a success in my book. Having Finch back is wonderful (even tho Nate's side band Cosmonaut is better). It was a fun filled blast from the past and a sure good time going crazy with other old Finch fans.

CHECK OUT THE PICS FROM IT!!!

Some are blurry...I apologize, I was jumping around and using a shitty digital camera.
